Over 200 attended THG's garden party which remained dry despite the stormy weather during the day.

The party marked the first year of their community ‘Wild Art’ garden and was part of the celebrations for the national Museums At Night festival.

The fun-packed evening featured art activities where families crafted their own birdfeeders out of willow and made woolly pompoms to take home. Visitors enjoyed locally-sourced food including wood-fired pizzas, crêpes and gourmet burgers while listening to popular bluegrass duo ‘The Lowest Pair’ all the way from Minneapolis, U.S.A.

The gallery’s exhibition Blooming Marvellous, featuring a spectacular life-size knitted garden proved a huge hit as families went on a treasure trail to find.

“The party was excellent, we loved the knitted veg, birds, insects and fruit. It all seemed a lovely evening to my close friend and me; we really enjoyed ourselves, and I was shown how to make the willow bird-feeder, which I will now hang on my tree,” commented a visitor. 

Angela Blackwell, THG Curator said: “We were so lucky with the weather! It was great to see the different generations enjoying family activities together. The knitted garden is such a hit. It’s not often you get an exhibition where the children are squealing with delight. We’re really looking forward to our next event for Halloween in October!”
