Thelma Hulbert Gallery (THG), East Devon District Council’s award-winning public art gallery, has been shortlisted for the third year running in the Devon Tourism Awards.
This year, THG is one of the finalists in the Access and Inclusivity Award category. The gallery has been chosen from Devon’s leading tourism businesses to attend the prestigious Award Ceremony on 10th November 2016 at the Great Hall at Exeter University. The event will be hosted by Judi Spiers and a special guest.
THG will be in suspense until 10th November when they will find out if they have won a Gold, Silver or Bronze award. If they are successful they will also be fast tracked into the regional South West Tourism Alliance Awards in February 2017.
The Chairman of the Awards Panel, David Fursdon, said: “I know how important the Tourist industry is to Devon. The wonderful reputation that this very special County enjoys in this area depends on maintaining the highest standards and this year's winners across a wide range of categories illustrate just that and personify one word; excellence.”
Rhys Roberts, Chair of the newly formed Visit Devon community interest company congratulated the finalists: “I am full of admiration for this year’s finalists, leading lights in Devon’s tourism industry who continue to enhance the visitor experience on offer across this wonderful county.”
Awards organizer Robin Barker of Services for Tourism commented: “I never cease to be surprised by this fantastic industry! The glowing descriptions of the experiences enjoyed by our team of mystery visitors make me want to go and sample every one of them!”
THG is an award-winning, public art gallery based in Honiton. The gallery is renowned for its accessibility through its innovative exhibition programme of contemporary art & craft and its learning programme reaching marginalized and hard to reach groups across Devon.
