A local Honiton student is exhibiting her painting in a prestigious art auction exhibition alongside many well-known artists.

Octavia Madden donated her work ‘Thelma’s Jug’ to the Thelma Hulbert Gallery for their upcoming art auction. Her work is now on display alongside internationally recognized artists such as Peter Randall-Page RA, and Alan Cotton FRSA SWAc.

Octavia developed her artistic skills as part of THG’s Masterpieces Youth Art Group. She is currently on an art scholarship at Millfield School. She was a finalist in the John King Young Artist competition 2017. She has also had work published in the World Horse Welfare Colouring book 2017. She intends to study Fine Art and university and beyond.

Octavia said,

I am really thrilled that my work was accepted. Thelma’s Jug was inspired while I was involved in THG’s Masterpieces Group. The foliage was picked from my mother’s garden and the jug is my mother’s favourite. I was exploring colour and paint textures.”

Octavia’s work will be auctioned alongside 55 other artworks on Friday 2 March at 7pm. Funds raised from the auction will go towards Honiton’s Admiral Nurse campaign and the THG Learning Progamme. The works are on display at THG and bids can be placed online at www.fundraising.bid/artauction2018.
