Garden Party to celebrate nuptials
Published on:
25 April 2018
Stilt walkers dressed as a bride and groom will feature at this year’s Garden Party at THG, which takes place on the day of the Royal Wedding.
This fun-packed evening will feature art activities, wedding-themed fancy dress, face painting, locally-sourced food stalls and a bar situated in the beautiful ‘Wild Art’ garden. Music this year comes from Dr Stomp with his unique brand of folk and roots music.
Artist Penny Evans will be making seed bombs with families to grow their own wildflower bouquets! The gallery’s exhibition A Curious Turn, featuring moving mechanical sculptures will be opening late for the party. Families will be able to create their own moving sculptures to take home too.
This family-friendly event is also part of the national Museums at Night festival (16-19 May).
Emma Molony, Projects & Fundraising Officer said: “We will be celebrating the weddings which took place at THG when the building was a registry office.
The garden party is the culmination of the Heritage Lottery funded project ‘Elmfield House Comes Alive’, investigating the fascinating heritage of the gallery based at Elmfield House.
It will be your last chance to see A Curious Turn. This mesmerising exhibition has exceeded all expectations with visitor numbers and is on track to be our best attended exhibition ever!”
The party will take place on Saturday 19 May from 5 to 9pm with art activities until 8pm.
