Unearthed and Exposed: Nicky Thompson Photography

19 March 2011 to 14 May 2011

Nicky Thompson’s beautiful yet haunting photographs of Elmfield House are the result of extensive research carried out at the Thelma Hulbert Gallery.

During 2010, photographic negatives taken by Nicky Thompson of the house and outbuilding were buried within the gallery grounds. The surfaces of these negatives, eroded by their time in the earth, resulted in photographs which form the basis of this exhibition exploring memories of Elmfield House. This is Nicky Thompson’s first solo show following her MA which focused on experimental photography.
