Philippa Lawrence: A Space Between

14 September 2024 to 2 November 2024

A solo exhibition of the work of artist Philippa Lawrence.

This exhibition draws together threads that run throughout Philippa's practice. Her materials have included textiles, gold leaf, enamel, glass, paper, installation and photography. She also learns specialised crafting techniques to make new work such as French polishing, enamelling or glassblowing. Many works include a repeated gesture, this can involve breaking or disrupting a surface by cutting, piercing or binding - hinting at fragility or loss.

Showcasing new and developing works, it also includes a creative response, in cut vinyl, to the life and work of artist Thelma Hulbert.

Please join us for the exhibition opening on Saturday 14 September, 3-5pm. Artist talk with Philippa Lawrence, 2-3pm, £5:

Philippa Lawrence is an artist based at Spike Island, Bristol and Principal Lecturer at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
