New exhibition: Shifting Waterscapes brings together visual art, sound, story and mixed media created by Ellen Wiles and Arun Sood in response to bodies of water.
Thelma Hulbert Gallery (THG) launched their new exhibition with a lively family workshop and a sold-out performance and talk.
Visitors enjoyed a musical performance improvised live by acclaimed artists and musicians, Dr Ellen Wiles and Dr Arun Sood, followed by an artist talk reflecting on the value of waterscapes and themes around environmental change, which was led by Tim Youngs from the Blackdown Hills National Landscape.
Dr Ellen Wiles is artist-in-residence at the innovative CREWW water research facility on the University of Exeter. Ellen and fellow artist, Dr Arun Sood, have spent the past year visiting Otterhead Lakes in the Blackdown Hills producing field recordings and observations, recording oral histories, improvising music with the resonant ecology of the waterscape and filming the wetland environment.
Coordinating workshops coming up in February include community art sessions in Cranbrook and a Half Term workshop with artist Emma Molony inviting families to create their own prints.
