An exhibition of artist-makers whose work references lace
- 14 September – 2 November Thelma Hulbert Gallery
- 14 September – 3 November Devon Guild of Craftsmen
Thelma Hulbert Gallery and The Devon Guild of Craftsmen, Bovey Tracey, have worked in partnership to stage an exciting exhibition which challenges preconceived ideas of lace, by exploring ways in which contemporary artists/makers reference and use this material in their work.
intoLACE, which straddles both venues shows the work of different artists and makers, examines the historic uses and values of lace with particular reference to Honiton lace, considers what makes lace relevant in today’s contemporary practises and asks why lace has such an enduring appeal. A specially commissioned installation is in-situ covering all the gallery windows with a lace-effect to mirror net curtains.See the video of the making of the installation
Lace-makers from Allhallows Museum, Honiton will be on hand, showcasing their extraordinary lace-making skills.
